Kitchen fire suppressions system and paint-booths must be inspected and tested as per NFPA and manufacture specifications once every 6 months (semi-annual).  As part of the inspection we test the remote pull station to make sure the manual functionality works, also we test the system automatically by the fusible link line or thermostat inside the hood.  When the system is activated manually or automatically, any source of fuel, gas or electric must shut off, the exhaust fan must remain on and if is off must turn on, the fresh air or make up air must shut off.   Nozzles protecting the equipment must be at the right high aiming and protecting the equipment correctly as per manufacture specifications.  All fusible links must be replaced every 6 months, caps at least once a year, actuating cartridges annually depending on the manufacture.

Inspection and Maintenance

    • Regular Inspections: Systems must be inspected and serviced by a licensed professional at least every six months.

Fire suppression systems are essential in kitchens where there’s a significant risk of fire due to the presence of high heat, open flames, or flammable materials. Specifically, these systems are crucial in the following types of kitchens:

  1. Commercial Kitchens
  2. Industrial Kitchens
  3. Institutional Kitchens
  4. Food Trucks and Mobile Kitchens
  5. Professional Cooking Facilities

These systems are designed to quickly extinguish fires, particularly those involving cooking oils and fats, which require specialized suppression agents like wet chemicals. They often include hood and duct systems, which protect the cooking area, as well as automatic or manual activation options to deal with fires efficiently.

Like kitchen systems, paint booth fire suppression systems require regular inspection and maintenance semi-annual. This is typically done by licensed professionals.

Installation require permits, and adherence to local fire department regulations is essential.
